SafeTripVax: Travel Vaccination Platform

Challenge

Before traveling to an exotic country, you need to know which vaccinations are required or recommended. The problem is that this information is scattered, hard to find, and often outdated. Travelers search forums, call health offices, and ask in online groups.

Travel medicine clinics have this knowledge, but they lack a tool to share it conveniently with patients. And the patient wants a simple answer: I am going to Thailand in 3 weeks, what do I need to do?

What we built

A platform connecting travelers with travel medicine clinics. The traveler enters their destination, departure date, and health profile. The platform suggests needed vaccinations and allows booking at a clinic.

How it works

• A database of vaccination requirements for over 200 countries
• Personalized recommendations based on destination, time to departure, and vaccination history
• A search engine for nearby travel medicine clinics
• Patient profile with vaccination history and planned trips
• A clinic panel for managing appointments and patients

Technical approach

A SaaS platform built with Next.js and Supabase as the backend. Vaccination data maintained in a structured database, updated based on WHO and CDC guidelines. Multilingual from day one, since the platform targets travelers from different countries.

The recommendation system considers not just the destination country's requirements but also the time needed for immunization. If someone is flying in a week, it will not recommend a vaccine that takes 4 weeks to work.

Medical data security is a priority. Row Level Security in the database, encryption of sensitive data, GDPR compliance.

Result

Travelers get a clear answer in minutes instead of hours of searching. Clinics gain a new patient channel. The entire path from question to appointment closes in one place.

I entered Kenya and the platform immediately told me I need yellow fever and that the nearest clinic is 3 km from my home. I booked in 2 minutes.
